William Lee "Bill" Palmer, 66, of Canton, passed away on Friday, November 13, 2009, at his home in Canton. He was a retired truck driver, most recently working for Winter Trucking. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran.
Bill was born on December 1, 1942, in Brookville, Kansas, the son of Eugene and Bertha (Kubitscheck) Palmer. On August 13, 1993, he was united in marriage to Dianne (McFarland) Slifer in Hutchinson, Kansas.
The memorial service will be at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, November 18, 2009, at Stockham Family Funeral Home. There will be no visitation.
Survivors include: his wife, Dianne of the home; sons, Trent Messmer and wife, Elizabeth, of Hutchinson, KS and Tim Messmer of Larned, KS; father, Eugene Palmer of Lindsborg, KS; brothers, Steve Brickey of Lindsborg, KS, Roy Brickey of Albany, AL, and Dale Brickey of Lindsborg, KS; step-son, Gary Slifer of Hutchinson, KS; step-daughter, Carol Hutabarat and husband, Tony, of Leavenworth, KS; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Bertha Palmer, son, Tony Palmer, and sister, Barbara Calabresse.
