Virginia A. (Weis) Swisher, 66, died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012. She was born in Salina, Kansas on April 15, 1946 to Alvin and Charlotte (Berg) Weis.
She was a 1964 graduate of Marquette High School and also attended Brown-Mackie Business College in Salina.
On April 9, 1965, Virginia was united in marriage to Kenneth Swisher in Marquette. This union was blessed with two daughters, Jennifer and Stephanie.
Virginia was a past vice-president of Lindsborg State Bank, with many years in the banking industry. She was a founding co-owner of Hemslojd Inc. and also worked as office manager for John C. Magnuson, C.P.A. for 12 years.
Virginia loved serving other people. She was an excellent cook, and knew just how to make anyone feel especially welcomed. A member of Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church, she served on numerous community boards, including Lindsborg Community Hospital, Lindsborg Chamber of Commerce, Lindsborg Ladies Golf Association, Lindsborg Swedish Folk Dancers, Svensk Hyllningsfest, Lindsborg Arts Council, the Midsummer's Committee, Broadway R.F.D., Meals on Wheels, Lindsborg Girl Scouts, the American Heart Association, and many other noteworthy organizations.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Ken Swisher; her daughters Jennifer Mauser and husband, Brett, of Jacksonville, FL, and Stephanie Brock and husband, Dennis, of Colorado Springs, CO; five grandchildren, Jacob, Oliver, Emma, Benjamin, and Joseph; a sister, Catherine French and husband, Tom, of McPherson; and a brother, Harvey Weis and wife, Michele, of Lindsborg. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Charlotte Weis, and a brother, Carl Weis.
Her hobbies included cooking and traveling in their RV to see family, entertaining in her home, playing golf, and motorcycling with Ken. Her most recent enjoyment was motoring in a 1930 Model A Ford (MISBERG).
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 1, at Messiah Lutheran Church in Lindsborg, KS. A private family graveside service will be held at Langley Cemetery (rural Marquette) prior to the memorial service.
