Vera Jean Shaw, 87, of McPherson, KS and formerly of Valley Center, KS, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at The Cedars, McPherson.
Jean was born on November 2, 1936, in McPherson, KS, the daughter of Herman B. and Adella V. Goering. She graduated from McPherson High School. Jean married Leslie E. Johnson and later was united in marriage to Granville Elmo “G.E.” Shaw on September 8, 1967. They were married for 50 years prior to his passing on November 15, 2017.
She was a civilian employee of the United States Army and retired from Bombardier where she was a secretary. Jean was a member of Pleasant Valley Church in Sedgwick.
Survivors include: eight sons, Ronald Shaw (Ann) of Tennessee, Jimmy “Darrell” Shaw (Rhonda) of Tennessee, Robert Shaw of Tennessee, David Shaw of Tennessee, Dennis Shaw (Nanci) of McPherson, KS, Douglas Shaw (Penny) of Florida, Donald Shaw (Phyllis) of Wichita, KS, and Michael Shaw (Anne) of Fort Leavenworth, KS; brothers, J.B. Goering (Brenda) of Rome, GA, Jake Goering (Sharyl) of Overland Park, KS, and Lowell Goering of Hutchinson, KS; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Gordon Goering, niece, Tana Goering Morse, and nephew, Benjamin Goering.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM, Friday, July 26, 2024, at Pleasant Valley Church, 12002 W. 109th St. North, Sedgwick, KS 67135. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until service time on Friday at the church. Burial will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
