Vera Janzen

Vera M. Janzen, 80, of McPherson, passed away on Sunday, March 30, at Hutchinson Hospital. She was a security guard and stock room attendant at CertainTeed Corporation in the plastic pipe division, retiring after 17 years.She was born May 9, 1927, in Canton, Kansas, the daughter of David H. and Cora Esther (Hart) Serviss. She graduated from Canton High School in 1947. On December 23, 1949, she married Orville W. Burch in McPherson. He died September 2, 1980. She later married Herman W. Janzen on April 17, 1982, in McPherson. He died September 23, 2006.

The funeral service will be at 10:00 AM, Thursday, April 3, at Stockham Family Funeral Home. Burial will be in Canton Township Cemetery with graveside rites conducted by the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday at Stockham Family Funeral Home with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

Survivors include: a son, Larry L. Burch of Hesston, KS, a daughter, Linda S. Biddlecome of Phoenix, AZ; a brother, Arnold Serviss of McPherson, KS; five grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by five brothers, Ralph Serviss, Charles Serviss, Lloyd Serviss, Lucien Serviss, and Harry Dale Serviss and five sisters, Elva Meljo, Thelma Miller, Lillie Boyce, Evelyn Serviss, and Betty Lucile Cleek.
