Venita Schoen

Vanedia "Venita" Marie Schoen, beloved Mother and Grandmother, passed away July 29th surrounded by her family. She passed peacefully, having recently seen her 89th birthday. Her life was her children, her love of God, and of animals. Her character and memorable visions were her ability to garden and grow beautiful flowers, playing a piano and organ, and her warm, beautiful smile.

Formerly of Windom, Kansas, she moved with her husband, Virgil, and family to McPherson in 1954. She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil A. Schoen, her parents, Cecil C. and Sylvia E. Voress, her brother, Galen Voress, a granddaughter, Kiley Marie Schoen, and grandson, Daniel Lee Schoen. She is survived by all of her children, V. Robert Schoen, Cecil F. Schoen, Rose Marie Von Dreele (Glenn), Barbara Ann Bickford, Wayne L. Schoen, Billy D. Schoen (Darla), eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, her sisters-in-law, Darleen Nonken, Ruby Williams, and Betty Schoen; several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

The funeral service will be at 10:00 am, Tuesday, August 4, 2009, at the First United Methodist Church in McPherson, Kansas with interment to follow at the Bean Cemetery in Little River, Kansas. Visitation is from 3:00 to 7:00 pm, Monday, at Stockham Family Funeral Home, with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.

The family extends great appreciation to all of her individual caregivers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the First United Methodist Church, 1200 E. Kansas, McPherson, KS 67460 or in care of Stockham Family Funeral Home.
