Vanessa (Oriet) Thayer

Vanessa Gail (Oriet) Thayer, 49, of Salina, passed away on Monday, Nov. 21, 2011, at her home in Salina. She was formerly of Lindsborg, Conway, and Great Bend. She was a manager at Zale's Jewelers in the Salina Central Mall.

Vanessa was born on August 31, 1962, in McPherson, KS, the daughter of Joseph Eugene and Nellie Ann (Busch) Oriet. She attended Conway Elementary School and McPherson High School. On November 29, 2003, she was united in marriage to Michael L. Thayer in Salina, KS.

Survivors include: her husband, Michael of the home; parents, Joe & Nell Oriet of McPherson, KS; sons, Kristopher Thayer of Lawrence, KS and Larry Likins of Wichita, KS; daughter, Teresa Scott of McPherson, KS; brothers, Bubba Oriet (Yolanda) of Hutchinson, KS and Clayton Oriet of McPherson, KS; sisters, Dea Shelburne of Canton, KS, Beverly Ratzlaff (John) of Windom, KS, Lynn Langdon (Rich) of Inman, KS, and Ida Flood (Corey) of McPherson, KS; and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Regina Oriet.

The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM, Monday, Nov. 28, 2011, at Stockham Family Funeral Home with Rev. Troy Schroeder officiating. Burial will be in the McPherson Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 PM, Sunday, with the family receiving friends from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Stockham Family Funeral Home.
