Tom R. Embrey, 59, of McPherson, passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2008, at his home, McPherson. He was born on March 28, 1948, at Panora, Iowa, the son of William Milo and Hazel (Jestice) Embrey. He worked as a Special Projects Engineer at the NCRA Refinery in the Feed Unit.
Tom served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.
On September 22, 1973, he was united in marraige to Susan A. "Sue" Ambrose at McPherson, Kansas. She preceded him in death on January 31, 2006.
Tom was a member of the United States Bowling Congress and bowled on a local team and attended the First United Methodist Church, McPherson.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 AM, Friday, March 21, 2008, at the First United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the McPherson Cemetery with military honors. Visitation is scheduled from 3:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday at Stockham Family Funeral Home with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
Survivors include: his daughter, Debbie J. Klinkerman and husband, Troy, of McPherson; brothers, Lewis Embrey of Claflin, KS, Jerry Embrey of Des Moines, IA, Jim Embrey of Council Bluffs, IA, and John Embrey of Arizona; sisters, Margaret Dailey of Gilmore City, IA, Marilyn Hysell of Las Vegas, NV, and Jeanne Poindexter of Madrid, IA; one step-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Embrey, a daughter, Annette, and a sister, Mary Upchurch.
