Taylor W. Cheek

January 7, 1993 — December 25, 2024

Medellin, Colombia

Taylor Wayne Cheek, 31, passed away on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, at his home in Segovia, Colombia.

Taylor was born January 7, 1993, the son of Joseph and Christi (Miller) Cheek, at Ft. Riley, KS. He grew up in McPherson, KS and graduated from McPherson High School in 2011. He continued his education at Wichita State University, receiving a degree in computer engineering. He worked as an engineer at Lockheed Martin and TRC Companies.

He met Julieth Albanez in 2017, and they married on July 17, 2019. Taylor and Julieth welcomed their greatest blessing, daughter Isobel, on November 29, 2023.

Taylor enjoyed traveling. He and Julieth enjoyed trips to Mexico, Belize, Canada, Bahamas, Aruba, as well as Columbia before moving there in February 2024. Taylor was a loving, doting father to Iso. He and Julieth enjoyed taking her on hikes around Colombia and enjoying the nature.

Taylor possessed a remarkable intellect and an exceptional work ethic far beyond his years. He was indifferent to material wealth, finding no true value in possessions. Instead, it was the richness of life's experiences that captivated him, and it was through living fully and embracing the journey that he found his greatest fulfillment.

He is survived by his wife, Julieth Albanez and daughter, Isobel Cheek, of Segovia, Colombia; father, Joseph Cheek of Belleville, IL; mother, Christi Peters (Troy) of McPherson, KS; second dad and mom, Dean Catton of McPherson, KS and Maria Catton (Marty Crabtree) of McPherson, KS; siblings, Gage Cheek of Belleville, IL, Brad Catton of Kansas City, MO, Natasha McNett (Logan) of Lindsborg, KS, and Amanda Catton of McPherson, KS; grandparents, Dennis & Judy Friesen of McPherson, KS and Larry Catton of McPherson, KS; aunts & uncles, Kent & Dawn Johnson of Little River, KS, Brian & Hope Miller of Hutchinson, KS, Mike & Julie Freisen of Inman, KS, and Jeff & Stacy Friesen of Washington, DC; nephew, Miles Cheek of Hutchinson, KS; nieces, Wrenley Cheek of Swansea, IL and Ava Youngblood of Lindsborg, KS; and many more extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Wayne & Cathy Cheek; maternal grandfather, Carl Miller; grandmother, Barbara Catton; and cousins, Joshua Cheek and Erica Anne Johnson.
