Steven W. Platner

Steven W. Platner, 67, of McPherson, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at the McPherson Care Center. He had worked for TARC Industries in Topeka and also for Multi-Community Diversified Services in McPherson.

Steven was born on February 6, 1947, the son of Glenn M. and Myra A. (Sewell) Platner. He attended the McPherson Church of Christ.

Survivors include: brother, Marvin Platner of McPherson, KS; sister, Martha McKay of McPherson, KS; five nieces: Deena Kay Williams (Glen) of McPherson, KS, Peggy Hoag (Roy) of Topeka, KS, Tammy Johnson (Mike) of Rogers, AR, Judy Smith (Darin) of McPherson, KS, and LaDonnia Platner of Hutchinson, KS; a nephew, Jeff Bruce (Jana) of Kansas City, KS; 19 great-nieces & nephews; and 38 great-great-nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Lantz Platner.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, March 10, 2014, at McPherson Church of Christ with Minister Gary Witcher officiating. Burial will follow at the McPherson Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Sunday, March 9, at Stockham Family Funeral Home.
