Shirley A. Vincent, 72, died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2006, at Memorial Hospital, McPherson.
She was born May 25, 1934, in rural Concordia, the daughter of Raymond E. and Mabel Mae (Moore) Lewis. She was a 1951, graduate of Concordia High School. Shirley had been a resident of McPherson from 1956 to 1958, and from 1962 to present, formerly of Concordia.
She was a former telephone operator for Southwestern Bell and worked for Peter Pan Ice Cream Store, and Don's Studio. She also worked in the library at Washington Elementary School and had served as a McPherson City Hostess.
Shirley was a member of First Baptist Church, Shalom Sunday School Class, American Baptist Women, and Domestic Dames FCE.
On June 20, 1952, she married W.F. "Dean" Vincent in Concordia.
Survivors include: her husband, Dean of the home; two sons, Richard and wife, Cheryl, and Greg and wife, Donna, all of McPherson; four brothers, Donald of Concordia, Glenn of Wichita, James of Manhattan, and Robert of Tulsa; two sisters, Bernice Burt of Concordia, and Gloria Breault of Kearney, Neb.; four grandchildren, Stephanie, Katie, Rebecca, and David; and two great-grandchildren, Maegan, and Tyler.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Junior, and a sister, Norma Lee Estes.
Memorial service will be at 3:00 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Les Cantrell officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Stockham Family Funeral Home, McPherson. Committal service will be at 1 p.m. Monday in McPherson Cemetery and is open to family and friends.
