Selma Payne

Selma A. Payne, 75, of McPherson and formerly of Ellis, KS, died Friday, August 1, 2008, at Halstead Place in Halstead, KS. She worked for Red Coach Inn in the housekeeping and laundry dept., retiring in 2007 after 19 years.

She was born May 1, 1933 in Hays, Kansas, the daughter of Harold C. and Carrie L. (Bean) Beckstrom. She graduated from Ellis High School in 1951 and live there until 1988 when she moved to McPherson.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in McPherson and the P.E.O. Sisterhood.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, August 5, 2008, at Stockham Family Funeral Home. Graveside service will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday at the Mount Hope Cemetery in Ellis. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 7:00 PM Monday at Stockham Family Funeral Home, with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.

Survivors include: two sons, Tom Payne and wife, Sherry, of Hays, KS and Marc Payne and wife, Connie, of Wichita, KS; a daughter, Connie Fisher and husband, Ronnie, of Salina, KS; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
