Sara was born on March 9th, 1998 in McPherson, KS to Frank Bowker and Mysty Rusk. Sara was raised in Kansas and later in childhood moved to Corvalis, Oregon but returned to McPherson, KS to spend time with family often. Shortly after graduating high school, she attended Colorado State University until her health declined. Sara then moved to McPherson, KS to be closer to family where she earned her medical assistant certification and worked in a clinic as a medical assistant. Sara was gifted another chance at life and received a kidney transplant after battling kidney disease from an autoimmune condition diagnosed in her early teens.

Sara met her husband Justin, who was stationed at Fort Riley while she was residing in McPherson. Justin and Sara were blessed with a daughter Riley Jean Long after being united in marriage. Sara and her family were stationed to Georgia until her passing. While in Georgia, she started and managed two successful businesses. Sara’s health continued to decline, and she gracefully decided to enter hospice care in December of 2024. Sara passed surrounded by family and close friends on December 12, 2024.

Sara is proceeded in death by her great-grandparents, Harvey and Jean Rusk; grandparents, Jack and Mary Lynn Bowker; and son, Samuel Bryant Long.

She is survived by her father, Frank Bowker; mother, Mysty Rusk; stepfather, Ze Ferreira; siblings, Katie Bowker, Carrie Bowker, Jack Bowker, Ana Rusk, and Sophia Strickland; her husband, Justin David Long; daughter, Riley Jean Long; and many other cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends.
