Ruth Ellen Oltmanns, 91, of Moundridge, KS, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 26, 2021, at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice Center, Wichita. She worked as a wallpaper installer when the children were younger. She later worked on the assembly lines at three different mobile home factories. Ruth also worked for Femco and Modern Products (both of McPherson), and then for Goering Hardware in Moundridge.
Ruth was born on February 22, 1930, in Harper County, Kansas, the daughter of Clyde William and Glorina Maybelle (Roach) McClaflin. She graduated from Salt City Business College, Hutchinson. She was united in marriage to Arnold William “Bill” Allenbach on April 17, 1948, in Anthony, Kansas. This union was blessed with five children, Sandra (who was stillborn), Michael, Keith, Brenda, and Chrystle. On December 31, 1971, Ruth married Bob Lee Oltmanns at the First Baptist Church in McPherson. He preceded her in death on September 28, 2020.
Ruth was an avid gardener and active in 4-H, judging food at the county and state fairs. She was on the Planning and Zoning Board for the City of Moundridge for 20 years and the board at Pine Village for five years, along with volunteering for many other organizations and boards.
Survivors include: four children, Michael Allenbach (Cindy) of Inman, KS, Keith Allenbach (Shelly) of Moundridge, KS, Brenda Allenbach of Moundridge, KS, and Chrystle Gehring (Jim) of Edmond, OK; half-sister, LaDeene Wickersham (John) of Salina, KS; five grandchildren, Amanda Potts (Jim), Josh Allenbach (Kyla), Tammie Schmidt (John), Ann Lacey and Sarah Ruehlen; ten great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Clyde and Glorina McClaflin; husband, Bob Oltmanns; daughter, Sandra Ellen Allenbach; siblings, Clyde McClaflin, Jr., Deloris Myers, Carol Campbell, and Don McClaflin; and three grandchildren, Dawn, Stacy, and Paul Allenbach.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Friday, Oct. 8, 2021, at the Moundridge Senior Center, 100 N. Schmidt, Moundridge, KS 67107. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, October 9, at Mound Township Cemetery with Pastor Jim Sugars officiating. Following the graveside service, everyone is invited for food and fellowship at the Moundridge Senior Center.
