Ruth Green

Ruth Green, 88, of McPherson, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2009, at The Cedars, McPherson. Ruth was the owner of Elliott's Carpet Store along with her first husband, Earl.

Ruth was born on November 23, 1920, in Verona, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of Bishop C.V. and Lena Maude (Vannest) Fairbairn. She attended Central High School and College in McPherson, Kansas. On August 22, 1941, she was united in marriage to Earl Elliott in Ottawa, KS. He preceded her in death on October 18, 1988. On June 17, 1990, she was united in marriage to John Green. Ruth was a member of and taught Sunday School at the McPherson Free Methodist Church.

The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM, Monday, August 24, 2009, at the McPherson Free Methodist Church with Pastor Deborah Somerville and Rev. Claude E. Griffith officiating. Burial will be in the McPherson Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 PM on Sunday, at Stockham Family Funeral Home.

Survivors include: husband, John Green of the home; daughters, Ruth Earleen Snider and husband, Carl, of Salina, KS and Judy Ann Nilson and husband, Eugene, of Gypsum, KS; a son, Jimmy Wayne Elliott and wife, Lynn, of McPherson, KS; three sisters, Jean Robinson of St. Petersburg, FL, Roberta Harvester of Hesston, KS, and Victoria Williams of Topeka, KS; step-sons, Larry Green and wife, Dana, of Emporia, KS and Rodney Green and wife, Joan, of McPherson, KS; step-daughter, Cindy Ostrander and husband, Rick, of Lawrence, KS; six grandchildren, Angela Snider Moore, Elliott Earl Snider, Jennifer Nilson Cox, Ryan Nilson, Jimmy Fairbairn Elliott, and Bradley Earl Elliott; 11 great-grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; and nine step-great-grandchildren.
