Windom, KS

Roy Eugene Long, 81, of Windom, KS, passed away suddenly on Monday, August 1, 2022, at his home.  Roy was born on February 16, 1941, to James and Myrtle (Griffith) Long in Hutchinson, KS.

 

He retired from Johns Manville after 25 years in the maintenance department.

 

Roy married Bertha “Bert” L. (Hunley) Johnson on September 20, 1965. 

 

He was a former member of the Windom Fire Department, Windom Lions Club, and the Windom City Council.

 

He is survived by his wife, Bertha “Bert”; daughters, Bobbie (Dick) Rawson of Marquette, KS and Robin Wilson of Windom, KS; son, Russell Long of Windom, KS; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, Kristen (Ryan) Leatherwood and their children, Clay and Kadee, of Wister, OK and Jude (Zaina) Ebingha of Edmond, OK, Nicholas (Brittany) Rawson and their children, Harrison & Quinten, of Lyons, KS, Austin Wilson of Newton, KS, Alissa (Olivier) Basabe of Miami, FL; step-granddaughter and three step-great-grandchildren, Gwen (Jeff) Klepper and their children, Lane, Ashtin, and Grant, of Ellinwood, KS; sister, Janis Smyth of Hutchinson, KS; brothers, Ronald (Jan) Long and Dean Long, all of Hutchinson, KS; and several nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and two brothers.

 

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Thursday, August 4, 2022, at Stockham Family Funeral Home.  A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, August 5, at the Windom Cemetery. 

 

Memorial donations may be given to the Windom Senior Center, American Heart Association, or a charity of the donor’s choice in care of Stockham Family Funeral Home, 205 North Chestnut, McPherson, KS 67460.
