Rosella Christensen

Rosella Christensen, 88, of McPherson, KS, peacefully passed away on Thursday, March 6, 2025, surrounded by family at Angel Arms, McPherson. She was a homemaker.

She was born April 2, 1936, in Stirrat, WV, the daughter of Albert Jenkins and Pearl Kirk. Rosella was first married to John “Bob” Burge. She later married Charles R. Christensen on March 28, 1978. He preceded her in death on November 19, 2001.

Rosella was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include son, Kirk Burge (Debbie) of McPherson, KS; daughter, Christa Meisinger (Adam); six grandchildren, Jara LeGron (Dean), Misty Souder, Mindy Mikulecky (Matt), Kristopher Burge (Jodi), Shane Burge, and Ella Pearl Meisinger; two sisters, Helen George of Thompson Station, TN and Phyllis Greenslate (Bill) of Winchester, KY; brother, Jerry Kirk (Nancy) of Fort Wayne, IN; numerous great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert & Pearl Kirk; husband, Charles Christensen; four brothers, Marshall Kirk, Bob Kirk, James Kirk, and Bill Kirk; two sisters, Jean Cherpitel and Bettye Jane Gustus; four infant siblings; two sons, Jeffrey Burge and Jerry Burge; granddaughter, Kylie Holder; and companion, Harold Englebrecht.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, March 14, 2025, at Freedom Chapel, 1064 14th Avenue, McPherson, with Pastor Terry Turner officiating. Burial will follow the service at McPherson Cemetery. All those in attendance at her visitation and service are welcome to wear anything with pretty colors and/or flower print, which were Rosella’s favorites.
