Roberta M. Harvester, 93, of Hays and formerly of McPherson, passed away Friday, February 24, 2012, at the Good Samaritan Center in Hays, KS. She was a devout Christian, loving mother, and homemaker.
She was born May 2, 1918, in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of Rev. Charles V. and Lena M. (Vannest) Fairbairn. She attended high school at the Central Academy in McPherson, graduating in 1941.
On June 2, 1942, she married Raymond S. Harvester in Waterloo, Iowa. He preceded her in death on August 11, 1996.
Survivors include: a son, Robert Harvester (Karen) of Hays, KS; a daughter, Katherine Paulk (David) of Catawba, SC; two sisters, Jean Robinson of St. Petersburg, FL and Victoria Williams of Topeka, KS; twelve grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Charles A. Harvester, Sr., and a sister, Ruth Green.
The funeral service will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, March 2, at the Free Methodist Church with Rev. Deborah Somerville and Rev. Tom Griffith presiding. Burial will be in McPherson Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday at the Free Methodist Church, with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
