Robert Williams

Robert S. Williams, 78, of Windom, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2011, at McPherson Hospital. He was a retired truck driver for McPherson Concrete Products.

He was born December 21, 1932 in Windom, Kansas, the son of George A. and Lydia L. (Noggle) Williams. He attended the local Windom Schools and was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War.

On October 4, 1996, he married Mary Ann (Ball) Sovde in Windom.

Mr. Williams was a member of the Windom Church of Christ, Little River American Legion #258, and a life member of Hutchinson VFW #1361.

Survivors include: his wife, Mary Ann of the home; two sons, Lonnie Williams of Seneca, KS and Leon Bennett of Washington, KS; two daughters, Brenda Burleson of Jacksonville, FL and Julie Clark of Jacksonville, FL; step-children, Edward Sovde of Windom, KS, Barbara Penell of Edmond, OK, Tom Chapman of McPherson, KS, and Paula Martinez of McPherson, KS; sisters, Lu Wall of McPherson, KS, Opal Parks of Grand Prairie, TX, and Virginia Crouse of Longview, WA; sister-in-law, Deloris Williams of McPherson, KS; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Gerald Williams, and three sisters, Alberta Hood, Venita Cogdill, and Ruby Preaus.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, June 18, 2011, at the Windom Church of Christ. Inurnment will be in the Windom Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post #24 and V.F.W. Post #2715.
