Robert Vogel

Robert L. "Bob" Vogel, 78, of Newton and formerly of McPherson, passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2011, at Via Christi St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita. He was retired from the U.S. Army and served with the Military Police during the Korean and Vietnam Wars.

He was born April 10, 1933, in Sorento, Illinois, the son of Henry Lee and Minnie Marie (Scharf) Vogel. He spent many years in the McPherson area and graduated from McPherson High School. Mr. Vogel was a member of McPherson V.F.W. Post #2715.

On December 14, 1957, he was united in marriage to Zaida Mae Finkle in McPherson. She preceded him in death on August 3, 1994.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, October 21, at the Kansas Christian Home in Newton. Chaplain Denny Bell will officiate the service. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation.

Survivors include: two daughters, Kathy Sipes of Phoenix, AZ and Paula Seawright (David) of Vancouver, WA; a sister, Barbara Chapman (Art) of McPherson, KS; a brother-in-law, Perry Finkle (Deborah) of Buhler, KS; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Zaida, a brother, Kenneth, and longtime companion, Betty Schoen.
