Robert Resendiz

Robert A."Bob" Resendiz, 92, of McPherson, passed away Saturday, September 3, 2011, at McPherson Hospital. He was a retired clerk for the U.S. Postal Service.

He was born May 2, 1919, in Santa Ana, Sonora, Mexico, the son of Sotero Leal and Rosacia (Dorado) Resendiz. He had been a McPherson resident since 1983, moving from San Jose, CA. He graduated from High School in San Jose, CA.

On September 20, 1951, he married Goldia L. Holloway in Wichita.

Mr. Resendiz was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving during World War II. He also served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He retired from the Air Force at the Rank of Tech. Sergeant.

In his younger years, Robert was a competitive track cyclist. He also loved animals and had adopted several pets from the local shelters.

Robert was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ and a life member of both the American Legion and the V.F.W.

Survivors include: his wife, Goldia of the home; a daughter, Virginia Davis of El Dorado Springs, MO; a brother, Gilbert Resendiz (Sandy) of San Jose, CA; a sister, Gloria Villa (Manny) of San Jose, CA; four grandchildren, Goldia Schulte (Victor) of El Dorado Springs, MO, Helen "Dew" Tummons (Jared) of Lamar, MO, Christopher Davis of Harrisonville, MO, and John Davis of Neosho, MO; nine great-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and a brother.

The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Friday, September 9, 2011 at Stockham Family Funeral Home. Cremation will take place following the service. Inurnment will be in the Coal Hill Cemetery in El Dorado Springs, MO. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday at Stockham Family Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
