Robert W. Martens

Robert W. Martens, 93, of Inman, KS, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, surrounded by family at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was a farmer and rancher.

Robert was born on November 3, 1928, in Hillsboro, KS, the son of George K. and Susie (Loewen) Martens. He attended the Clark Elementary School in Inman. On February 17, 1952, Robert was united in marriage to Ruth Hiebert in Hillsboro, KS. She preceded him in death on July 9, 1974. On September 12, 1975, he married Betty Jane Giesel in Moundridge, KS. She passed away on April 3, 2018.

He was a member of Zion Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, rural Inman, KS.

Survivors include: a son, Duane (Gayla) Martens of Inman, KS; two daughters, Shirley Penner of Inman, KS and Connie (Kevin) Koehn of Mayfield, KY; nine grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and many extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wives, step-mother, Anna (Hiebert) Martens, son-in-law, Arden Penner, sister, Lola Litwiller, and brother, Kenneth Martens.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Thursday, November 18, 2021, at Zion Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, rural Inman, KS. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, November 19, at Zion Church of God in Christ, Mennonite with Ministers Maynard Koehn and Dallas Nikkel officiating. Burial will follow at Zion Church Cemetery.
