Richard L. “Dick” Caruthers, 74, of Pratt, Kansas, and formerly of Russell and Marquette, passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2014, at Kingman Community Hospital. He was a farmer, feedlot operator, and an oil field roughneck.
Richard was born on August 19, 1939, in Langley, Kansas, the son of Thomas Richard and Ruth Esther (Zimmerman) Caruthers.
He graduated from Marquette High School and served in the National Guard from 1959 to 1960.
Survivors include: companion, Ethel Nall of Pratt, KS; children, Tamara Rader of Burlington, KS, Richard Caruthers, Jr. of Torrington, WY, Elizabeth Turner and husband, Ray, of Valley Center, KS, and Julie Vogts and husband, Milton, of Canton, KS; brother, Wayne Caruthers and wife, Shirley, of Midland, TX; sister, Martha Faust of Charlevoix, MI; eleven grandchildren, Jarrod Caruthers, Dalton Rader, Austin, Katie, & Duncan Caruthers, Abraham Vanek, Gabriel Vanek, & Madison Turner, Tashley Stockham, Kassidy van der Hoeven, and Paige Vogts; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Linda Caruthers and Ruby Palmer, and brothers, Keith and Charles Caruthers.
The memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, August 22, 2014, at Stockham Family Funeral Home with Rev. Lynn Scott officiating. The inurnment of the cremains will be at 3:00 PM, Friday, at the Geneseo Cemetery.
