Ralph Edward Thompson, 81, of McPherson, died Monday, July 31, 2006, at The Cedars, McPherson. He was born on January 17, 1925, at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, the son of Montie and Nellie (Krause) Thompson. He attended high school at Vellevue, Nebraska. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in Europe and the Phillipines. He was formerly a safety engineer for General Dynamics and also owned & operated Santa Fe Freight Company, retiring in 1975. He had been a McPheson resident since the early 1970's.

He was a member of the Church of Christ and Life Member of the V.F.W. Post #2715, both of McPherson.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, August 3, 2006, at Stockham Family Funeral Home. Burial, with full military honors provided by the VFW and American Legion, will take place at Mound Township Cemetery, Moundridge. Visitation is scheduled from 3:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday at Stockham Family Funeral Home with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

Survivors include: his wife, Roxanna of the home; a daughter, Twila Nowak of Indian Trail, NC; a brother, Montie Thompson of San Antonio, TX; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
