Phyllis L. Swanson

Phyllis L. Swanson, 95, formerly of Windom, KS, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 3, 2019, surrounded by family at Sandstone Heights Nursing Home, Little River, KS. She was a homemaker and had worked as an operator for Bell Telephone Company.

Phyllis was born on January 2, 1924, in Hutchinson, KS, the daughter of Homer and Hattie (Register) Harter. She graduated from Windom High School. Phyllis was united in marriage to C. Russell Swanson on February 3, 1944, in Hutchinson, KS. He preceded her in death on May 19, 2010.

She was a former longtime member of Windom United Methodist Church.

Survivors include: two daughters, Cathe Peters of Windom, KS and Dara Lea Hoffman and husband, Joe, of Windom, KS; her beloved furry companion, Bambi; eight foster children, Josie, Ricky, Robert, Carl, Bobby, Donald, Rebecca, and Barbara; five grandchildren, Dennis, Chari, Jason, Tara, and Justin; four step-grandchildren, Jamie, Jessica, Sydni, and Cory; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband; siblings, Lila Dixon and Lloyd Harter; daughters, Carla Cannon and Mona Rhae King; granddaughter, Danielle Clement; and great-grandson, Thaddaeus Robison.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Thursday, August 8, 2019, at Stockham Family Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, August 9, at Stockham Family Funeral Home with Rev. Marshal Allen Bailey officiating. Burial will follow at Windom Cemetery.
