Phyllis Koenig

Phyllis Ann Koenig, 90, of McPherson, KS, and formerly of Kansas City and Eureka, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 23, 2023, surrounded by family at The Cedars, McPherson. Phyllis was a retired hospital administrator for Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka.

Phyllis was born on December 8, 1932, in Poplar Bluff, MO, the daughter of Robert Rezin and Hettie Jane (Simmons) Wood.  She graduated high school from Poplar Bluff, MO.  On October 23, 1954, Phyllis was united in marriage to Richard Dean Koenig in Poplar Bluff.  This union was blessed with three children, Cheryl, Steve, and Judy.

Survivors include: her loving husband of 68 years, Richard Koenig; three children, Cheryl (Galen) Swisher of Kula, HI, Steve (Connie) Koenig of McPherson, KS, and Judy (Robert) Sanders of Evans, GA; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; and many extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Robert Wood, Virginia Davison, and Kenneth Wood; and a great-grandson, Hendrix Koenig.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, June 29, 2023, at McPherson Cemetery with Rev. Ron Pracht officiating.   The family will receive friends from 8:30 to 9:30 AM on Thursday at Stockham Family Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to The Cedars Special Care Unit in care of Stockham Family Funeral Home, 205 North Chestnut, McPherson, KS 67460.
