Philip C. "Phil" Lacey, 57, of McPherson, died Thursday, March 29, 2007, at Memorial Hospital. Phil was born December 8, 1949, in Lawrence, Kansas, the son of Charles E. and Ruthanne (Finley) Lacey. He graduated from Lawrence High School in 1967, from the University of Kansas in 1971, and from KU Law School in 1974. He was an attorney for the law firm of Gilmore & Bell, P.C. (Wichita), also served as the McPherson City Attorney since 1976, and was formerly with the Bremyer & Wise law firm.

Phil was a member of the New Hope Evangelical Church, member of the church worship team, member of Central Christian College of Kansas Board of Trustees, the Kansas Bar Association, National Assn. of Bond Lawyers, City Attorney's Assn. of Kansas (served as President from 1990-1991).

The memorial service will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 31, 2007, at the McPherson Free Methodist Church with Rev. Michael Hambley and Rev. Jim Keil officiating. A private family committal service will be held at McPherson Cemetery prior to the memorial service. Visitation is scheduled from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at Stockham Family Funeral Home with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

His survivors include: his wife, Sharylyn of the home; two sons, Jason Lacey and wife, Skye, of Wichita, KS and Bryson Lacey of Manhattan, KS; daughter, Alexia Lacey of Colorado Springs, CO and her fiance, Clark Burgeson of McPherson, KS; his mother, Ruthanne Lacey of Lawrence, KS; brother, Bruce Lacey of San Anselmo, CA; sister, Jean Pollock of Middleboro, MA; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ralph and Donna Sue Gelvin of Lawrence, KS; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ralph and Joann Gelvin of Lawrence, KS.

He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Marilyn Pendleton.
