Paul D. Whitcher

Paul Dale Whitcher, 57, of Buena Vista, CO, and formerly of McPherson, KS, died March 21, 2019, at the Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center in Salida, CO.

He was born September 8, 1961, in Ellsworth, KS, the son of Hubert D. and Sharon J. (Kratzer) Whitcher. He attended school in McPherson and graduated from McPherson High School in 1980.

He had been a Colorado resident since 2003, initially living in Colorado Springs where he worked as a maintenance supervisor and certified chemical technician, taking care of swimming pools in various apartment complexes. He then moved to Buena Vista in 2010 to live with his mother and brother. There, he worked alongside his brother for a company that re-possessed vehicles, and they eventually started their own business. The past four years, Paul has worked at the Mount Princeton Hot Springs Resort, maintaining their pools and spas.

Survivors include: his mother, Sharon Whitcher of Buena Vista, CO; a brother, DeWayne Whitcher of Buena Vista, CO; and three nephews, Brandon Smith of Lyons, KS, Michael Smith of McPherson, KS, and Thomas Smith, who is on deployment in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Paul was preceded in death by his father, Hubert.

The memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, April 4, 2019, at Wheatland Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Post officiating. Inurnment will be in McPherson Cemetery.
