Patricia Stern

Pattie Louise Stern, 75, of McPherson, died Sunday, February 5, 2006, at her home.

She was born to Desmond and Irene Bittinger on Christmas day, 1930, in Nigeria. She graduated from McPherson College in 1951. She had served as a missionary and teacher in Nigeria from 1955 to 1962. She was also a teacher in Canton, at Sunflower School in rural McPherson County, and at Winans School in Hutchinson. She was an ordained minister in the Church of the Brethren and served as a District Executive in California and Arizona and as a pastor in Live Oak, California.

She was a member of the McPherson Church of the Brethren.

On June 1, 1950, she married Irven Stern in Elgin, IL.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2006, at 10:00 AM at the McPherson Church of the Brethren with pastors Shawn Flory Replogle and Chris Whitacre presiding. A private inurnment of the cremains will be at the McPherson Cemetery at a later date.

Survivors include: her husband, Irven Stern of the home; daughters, Gayle Bartel of El Dorado, KS and Susan Boyer of Claremont, CA; a son, Gary Stern of San Diego, CA; brothers, Stanley Bittinger of Kingsville, TX and Richard Bittinger of Beaverton, OR; a sister, Marianne Frances of Salem, OR; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
