Patricia Onken

Patricia A. "Patsy" Onken, 80, of McPherson, passed away Monday, January 3, 2011, at her home. From 1967 to 1992, she was a school psychologist for McPherson U.S.D. 418.

Patsy was born on July 31, 1930, in Ashland, Kansas, the daughter of Wilbur Ancil "Pat" and Sally Mae (Fox) Salyer. She graduated from Larned High School. She also attended Colorado Women's College and graduated from University of Kansas with a Master's Degree. On September 8, 1958, she was united in marriage to C. James "Jim" Onken in Larned , Kansas.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and P.E.O. Chapter HI.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM, Friday, January 7, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Private burial will be in McPherson Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. The Rosary will begin at 7:00 PM.

Survivors include: husband, Jim of the home; a son, Steve Onken of Wichita; two daughters, Sally Anderson of McPherson and Jane Lang (Jim) of Olathe; a brother, Jim Salyer (Joann) of Lawrence; and five granddaughters.
