Nancy John

Nancy L. Hawkinson John, 87, of Lindsborg, passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2013, at Salina Regional Medical Center. She was a lifetime McPherson County resident and was a homemaker.

She was born on June 19, 1926, in Winfield, KS, the daughter of Jesse and Rebecca (Jones) Waggoner. On June 12, 1945, she was united in marriage to Donald D. Hawkinson in McPherson, KS. He died March 23, 1963. She then married Leonard L. John on June 26, 1967, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 4, 1993.

Nancy was a member of the New Gottland Lutheran Church and V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary #2715. She had volunteered for the McPherson Scottish Festival, the McPherson County Old Mill Museum, Lindsborg, and the Smoky Valley Genealogy Library, Salina.

Survivors include: sons, Donald W. Hawkinson of Lindsborg, KS, Robert Hawkinson (Kathy) of Wichita, KS, Craig Hawkinson of Salina, KS, and Martin John (Ruth) of Lyons, KS; daughters, Vivian Gobin (Dwayne) of Hutchinson, KS and Ginger Levin (Lee) of Santa Fe, NM; sisters, Linda Steward (Louroy) of Winfield, KS and Lila Armstrong of Winfield, KS; 11 grandchildren, Mark Hatcher, Michael Hatcher, Dwayne Gobin II, Cian Williams, Caitlan Williams, Deborah Payne, Shannon Tripplett, Bryan John, Tim Hawkinson, John Hawkinson, and Joey Hawkinson; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, and sisters, Jean Waggoner and Margaret Pritchard.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, August 22, 2013, at Stockham Family Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the New Gottland Lutheran Church Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled from 3:00 to 7:00 PM, Wednesday, at Stockham Family Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
