Michael S. "Tex" Vaughn, 59, of McPherson, died Wednesday, January 7, 2009, at the Robert Dole VA Medical Center in Wichita. He was a recording artist and owner/operator of Pioneer Cutlery. Mr. Vaughn was also a Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War.
Memorial service will be at 7:00 PM on Friday, January 9, at the New Life Foursquare Church in McPherson. Pastor Jayson Thurston will officiate the service. Military honors will be conducted by members of McPherson VFW Post #2715 and American Legion Post #24. There will be no visitation. Inurnment of the cremains will take place in Scotland at a later date.
Survivors include: his wife, C.J. of the home; his mother, Vickie Lainier of Buffalo, TX; a brother, Jerry Vaughn of Wichita Falls, TX; four sons, Dusty Vaughn of McAllen, TX, Elton Vaughn of Lubbock, TX, Christopher Michael Vaughn of Dallas, TX, and Jerry Lee Vaughn of Dallas, TX; two daughters, Shannon Koch of Slinger, WI and Kim Martin of Moundridge, KS; two step-sons, John Ratter and Brian Ratter of Scotland; a step-daughter, Karen Ratter of Scotland; and over thirty grandchildren.
