Merlyn O. Madron, 82, of McPherson, KS passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 25, 2014, at McPherson Hospital. He was employed for 43 years at NCRA as a heavy equipment operator, retiring in 1993.
He was born on July 5, 1931, in Rockport, MO, the son of Olin and Grace M. (Cooper) Madron. He graduated from high school in Rockport, Missouri. He married Betty Goering in 1957. On April 14, 1987, Merlyn married Carol Lee (Van Wey) Williams in Miami, OK.
Merlyn served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. He served from 1952 to 1954 and was honorably discharged at the rank of Corporal. He was a member of V.F.W. Post #2715, American Legion Post #24, and was a former member of the Isis Shrine.
Survivors include: his wife, Carol of the home; sons, Michael Madron (Tonya) of McPherson, KS and Kyle Williams (Jennifer) of McPherson, KS; daughters, Theresa Blosser of McPherson, KS, Dana Dossett (Monte) of McPherson, KS, and Candee Nightingale (Larry) of McPherson, KS; 17 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Timothy, brothers, Herbert, Donald, and Raymond, and sisters, Mildred Husing and Vyvyan Martin.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, May 29, 2014, at Stockham Family Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Post officiating. Burial will follow at the McPherson Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 7:00 PM, Wednesday, May 28, at Stockham Family Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
