Merlin Frantz

Merlin L. Frantz, 89, of McPherson, passed away Monday, March 7, 2011, at his home in McPherson. Merlin was born on July 19, 1921, in Navarre, KS, the son of Earl Martin and Lela Augusta (Dell) Frantz. He received his Master’s Degree and Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska. Merlin was a retired college professor and administrator at McPherson College (37 years).

He was united in marriage to ImoJean E. Sheller on August 23, 1944, in the Ivester Community near Grundy City, Iowa.

He was a member of the McPherson Church of the Brethren, Rotary Club International (Past President), People of Peace, and the Mutual Aid Association of the Church of the Brethren.

The memorial service will be Saturday, March 19, 2011, at 1:00 PM at the McPherson Church of the Brethren. A private burial of cremains at McPherson Cemetery will precede the service.

Survivors include: his wife of 67 years, ImoJean of the home; daughters, Claudia Law of McPherson, Lynne Lichty (Dr. Dan) of McPherson, Dawnelle Adcock (Brett) of McPherson; sister, Rowena Flory of McPherson; brother, Byron Frantz (Eula) of Fleming, CO; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
