Mary Louise Whelpley

Mary Louise Whelpley, 84, of McPherson, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 24, 2011, at The Cedars, McPherson. Prior to retirement, she was a financial secretary at the First United Methodist Church.

Mary was born on March 28, 1927, in Pitcher, OK, the daughter of Melvin and Lexia Randall. She graduated from Manhattan High School. On Aug. 31, 1947, she was united in marriage to Robert E. Whelpley in Manhattan, KS.

Mary was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a Founding Member and a Board Member of Multi Community Diversifed Services (MCDS), where she had volunteered for 35 years, was a member of the TOPS Club, and was a Cub Scout Den Mother.

Her survivors include: her husband of 64 years, Robert Whelpley of the home; sons, Randy Whelpley and wife, Marge of Topeka, KS, Kevin Whelpley of McPherson, KS, and Tom Lloyd and wife, Stephanie, of Stafford, VA; four grandchildren, Kyle Whelpley of Leavenworth, KS, Bryce Whelpley of Olathe, KS, Joshua Lloyd of McPherson, KS, and Amanda Lloyd of Stafford, VA; and three great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011, at the First United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the McPherson Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Monday, at Stockham Family Funeral Home.
