Marvin L. "Popcorn Man" Smith, 72, of Inman and formerly of McPherson, died Tuesday, July 25, 2006, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. He was retired from Vanguard Plastics and had also worked as a supervisor at CertainTeed Corp. Most recently, he owned and operated Ju-Mar Popcorn Company in Inman.
The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Friday, at Stockham Family Funeral Home. Burial, with Military Honors, will be at the North Inman Cemetery. A reception at the McPherson Holiday Manor (room 106) will follow the committal service. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday at Stockham Family Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
Survivors include: his wife, Judy of the home; a son, Robert "J.R." Ewing of Manhattan, KS; six daughters, Julie Smith of Ardmore, AL, Cindy Smith of Denver, CO, Jennifer Godwin of Gardner, KS, Sheila Esguerra of Hutchinson, KS, Sonya Goalden of McPherson, KS, and Sherri Coker of McPherson, KS; a brother, Donovan Smith of Newton, KS; 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald Dean Smith, and a sister, Betty Jean McClure.
