Marvin L. Crum, 82, of McPherson passed away on Wednesday, June 2, 2010, at The Cedars, McPherson. Marvin was born on January 14, 1928, in Liberty, Missouri, the son of William Arthur and Alberta (Parker) Crum. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Economics from William Jewell College in Liberty, MO. Marvin served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1947. On November 11, 1951, he was united in marriage to Louise Downing in Liberty, MO.
Marvin served as Vice-President, President, and Chairman of the Board for Peoples Bank, retiring in 1991. He also served as Mayor of Newton for one term.
Marvin was a member of the First Christian Church and former member of First Baptist Church.
The memorial service will be at 2:00 PM, Friday, June 4, 2010, at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Les Cantrell officiating. In accordance with the family's wishes, his body was donated to the University of Kansas School of Medicine.
Survivors include: his wife, Mary Louise of the home; son, Joe Crum of Smyrna, GA; daughter, Carol Crum of Lincoln, NE; brother, Frank Crum of Liberty, MO; sisters, Minnie Irminger of Liberty, MO and Ruth Coates of Colorado Springs, CO; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations may be given to the Alzheimer's Disease & Related Disorders Assoc., First Baptist Church, or the First Christian Church in care of Stockham Family Funeral Home, 205 North Chestnut, McPherson, KS 67460.
