Marvin "Andy" Anderson

Marvin E. "Andy" Anderson, 90, passed away quietly from this earthly life on March 13, 2013, at his home in Granbury, Texas.

Andy was born in Marquette, Kansas on July 1, 1922, to Ernest and Esther (Nyquist) Anderson. His grandparents, along with other family members, had immigrated to Kansas from Sweden. Here they formed a small community named Salemsborg. Andy grew up surrounded with strong family ties and loyal friends.

On March 26, 1958, he married Pauline L. Ford in Clayton, New Mexico.

In his adult years, he had a custom combine crew, cutting wheat from Texas to Canada. Later, he raised cattle along with baling, storing, and hauling hay for many people in the area. He was well known in the central Kansas area for frequenting farm auctions and sales. His "Man Cave" was a barn/workshop at his farm. The building was built in 1915, and he loved spending time there dabbling with windmills and antiques.

His later years brought health issues, which caused him and his wife Pauline to relocate to Granbury, Texas to live with their daughter and son-in-law.

He was a good, honest man who will be missed by many. Godspeed, Andy.

Survivors include: his wife of 55 years, Pauline of the home; a daughter, Janet Higgins (James) of Granbury, TX; a son, Dennis Anderson (Connie) of Whitesboro, TX; 11 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren, and 13 nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Ione Wolfe, a brother, Virgil Anderson, and sister-in-law, Amy Anderson.

Visitation with family and friends will be from 4:00 to 6:00 on Tuesday, March 19, at Stockham Family Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, March 20, at Andover Cemetery, rural Windom, Kansas.
