Martha Mae Potter entered into eternal rest on Friday, July 1, 2016, at Salem Home in Hillsboro, Kansas at the age of 96.
Martha was born on May 30, 1920, to David A. and Helena L. (Klassen) Hiebert in Hillsboro, Kansas. She had seven siblings who have all preceded her in death.
Martha went to school in Hillsboro and graduated from there in 1938. She married Billy V. Potter on November 28, 1942, while he was serving in the Medical Corp and stationed at Fitzsimmons Hospital in Denver, Colorado. Martha and Billy were married for 49 years before Billy passed away on September 21, 1992. They were members of the Church of Christ in McPherson, Kansas and both shared deep beliefs and feelings for the teachings of the Church.
Martha was a devoted farm worker, homemaker, and mother. They lived on a farm south of McPherson where she lived for 57 years. During their marriage, they raised three boys.
She is survived by: her sons, Kenneth L. Potter (Mona) of Clarksdale, MO, Gene E. Potter (Roxanne) of Paradise, TX, and Steven L. Potter (Jennifer) of McPherson, KS; six grandchildren, Thomas Potter, Chris Potter, Michael Potter, Cory Potter, Chelsea Baker, and Jessica Unruh; and six great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and seven siblings, Clarence Hiebert, George Hiebert, Monroe Hiebert, Franklin Hiebert, Gladwin Hiebert, Ruth Penner, and Betty Conner.
Martha truly loved her family: children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, as well as, many friends and caregivers.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, July 7, 2016, at McPherson Church of Christ with Minister Gary Witcher officiating. The final resting place will be in McPherson Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Wednesday, July 6, at Stockham Family Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
