Marjorie Beebe

Marjorie Beebe lived an unusually special life, giving generously of herself to her family, friends, colleagues, and in her role as a teacher, counselor, and principal. She was truly a professional in her career, providing support, co-operation and friendship to parents and children of the schools she served. The countless hours of service dedication and her caring spirit have enriched innumerable lives. The school and community working in harmony toward a common goal were the ingredients that she used to develop a strong base for the education of the children.

Our Special Person was born Marjorie McAdams on April 29, 1916, in Harlan, Iowa, the daughter of B.F. and Allie (Blevins) McAdams. She married David T. Stucky on Sept. 29, 1935. On December 17, 1936, a special son, Galen, came into her life.

Marjorie attended Central Academy and College in McPherson, Kansas. In 1956, she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from McPherson College, graduating Cum Laude. She attended Emporia State College, and in 1965 received her Masters Degree in Administration and Counseling. She held a variety of professional positions as an educator and was an elected member of the U.S.D. 418 Board of the Education. At the college level, she served for three years as administrative assistant of the Associated Colleges of Central Kansas (ACCK), taught for one year at McPherson College, and was appointed member of the Board of Trustees of Hesston College. She received numerous awards and other outside recognition for her many contributions to the training and education of young people at all levels.

After being a widow for sixteen years, she married Jack Beebe on July 21, 1973. Mrs. Beebe retired from her educational career in 1983 and was active in volunteer work, was a member of the McPherson Memorial Hospital MACCO Board of Directors, and enthusiastically contributed to other organizations until her health forced her to slow down. Her favorite pastime was working with her flowers.
