Marjorie Olive Bartlett, 92, of McPherson, passed away on Tuesday, September 4, 2012, at Harmony Home, McPherson.

Marjorie was born on March 6, 1920, the daughter of Norman and Nellie (Bennett) Griebel at rural Stockton, Kansas. She graduated from Stockton High School in 1939 and then Wichita Business College in 1941. She worked as a secretary/stenographer and then a management technician in civil service at Beech Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas for 28 years.

Marjorie was united in marriage to Howard C. Bartlett on July 20, 1951, in Wichita, Kansas. He died September 20, 1996. Following his death, Marjorie moved to Schowalter Villa in Hesston, Kansas, where she was a resident until her move to Harmony Home in McPherson in February of 2012.

An excellent cook, Marjorie also enjoyed travel and was a very astute businesswoman. She was a WSU fan and especially loved her visits with family and friends. She was a member of Mount Olive Christian Church in Wichita.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Howard, brother, Robert Griebel, step-daughter, Mary Anne Buckner, and step-son, Michael Bartlett.

Surviving family members are: five grandchildren, Meta Arnold of Portland, OR, Judith Dodge-Farfan of Seaside, OR, David Dodge of Portland, OR, Denise Dodge of Seattle, WA, and Carmen Buckner-Ruiz of Portland, OR; a sister, Norma Boswell of McPherson, Kansas; nephews, Don Boswell and wife, Nancy, of Herman, Nebraska, Norman Boswell of Houston, Texas, and Rick Boswell and wife, Brenda, of McPherson, Kansas; and numerous cousins including Vance Silknitter and wife, Judy, of Whitewater, Kansas.

The funeral service will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday, September 8, 2012, at Stockham Family Funeral Home. There will be no visitation. A graveside service will take place at 1:00 PM on Saturday at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Wichita.
