Marie Schmidt

Marie E. Schmidt, 93, of McPherson, passed away Monday, April 23, 2012, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. She was a homemaker and former retail sales clerk.

She was born November 3, 1918 in Conway, Kansas, the daughter of Edison F. and Ella J. (Wiard) Miller. She lived most of her life in the McPherson and Newton area.

On August 25, 1937, she married Howard D. Schmidt in Lincoln, KS. He preceded her in death on December 16, 1988.

Marie was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Mary Martha Circle, Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, American Business Women's Association, Buttons & Bows Square Dance Club, and the Golden Age Round Dance Club.

Survivors include: three daughters, Eulala Groves of Katy, TX, Anita Young of Omaha, NE, and Elaine Adams of Omaha, NE; a son, Delinn Schmidt (Jeanna) of Missouri Valley, IA; 13 grandchildren, 23 great- grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces & nephews; and three sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and 5 brothers and 3 sisters.

The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Friday, April 27, at Stockham Family Funeral Home. Rev. Karen Rice Ratzlaff will officiate the service. Burial will be in McPherson Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday at Stockham Family Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
