Lucille Miller

Lucille E. Miller was born October 14, 1912, in McPherson, Kansas, the daughter of Orton LaMonte and Esther Sophia (Beckstrom) Talbott. Lucille enjoyed and was active in sports, being on the basketball and swim teams, in her earlier school years. Following graduation, she attended Central College, McPherson.

Lucille later went to work at Farmer's Alliance Insurance Co. in which her grandfather, I.F. Talbott, was a co-founder of the company. She worked there for many years.

On March 12, 1944, at Lyons, Kansas, Lucille was united in marriage to Harold "Daddy" Davis. He passed away in 1960. She was then married to Myron Lee Miller on December 30, 1960. He passed away on August 21, 1981.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Elk's Lodge, both of McPherson. Lucille enjoyed dancing and playing cards with friends. And in later years, she played solitaire by the hour. Lucille always loved animals and always had a dog.

Lucille was always well dressed and even more, she wore nail polish to match each dress, when it was the fashion to do so.

Lucille had been homebound for years and was cared for by family, friend, Rosella Christensen, and grandson, Randy Miller.

Her survivors include: caregivers, Rosella Christensen of McPherson, KS and Randy Miller of McPherson, KS; sister, Dolly Woodard of McPherson, KS; step-son, Dale Miller of Inman, KS; step-daughter, Anita Van Nordstrand of McPherson, KS; four step-grandchildren; nieces, Kim Edwards of McPherson, KS, Carole Benton and Connie Nichols, both of Odessa, TX; nephews, Orton Talbott and Barney Woodard, both of McPherson, KS; and Kenneth Talbott of Marquette, KS; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Harold and Myron, and two brothers, LaMonte and LaVerne Talbott.

The graveside service will be at 10:30 AM Wednesday, February 28, 2007, at the Crestwood Memorial Park Cemetery, with Rev. Harold Nelson officiating. There will be no visitation.
