Louis Edward Evans, Sr., 85, of Marquette, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 15, 2012, at his home in Marquette. Louis was a retired owner & operator of Modern Business Machines in Phillipsburg, Kansas. He was a resident of Marquette since 2007, formerly of Branson, MO, Yuma, AZ, Phillipsburg, KS, & Salina, KS.

He was born on October 1, 1926, in Joplin, MO, the son of Thomas Allan and Beulah Jean (Austin) Evans. On March 7, 1945, Louis was united in marriage to Luree Mae Erickson in Norfolk, VA.

Louis was a United States Navy Veteran, serving during WWII and the Korean War. He was a member of the VFW Post #1432 of Salina and First Baptist Church in Phillipsburg. He was a former member of the Rotary Club in Phillipsburg.

Survivors include: his wife, of 67 years, Luree Evans of the home; sons, Louie Evans and wife, Deb, of Phillipsburg, KS and Larry Evans and wife, Linda, of Liberty, MO; brothers, Kenneth Evans and wife, MaryLou, of Fayetteville, AR, Bill Mosby of Burbank, CA, and Tom Seymour and wife, Toni, of Joplin, MO; sisters, Bernice LeGrande and husband, Hugh, of LaHabra, CA and Pat Larson of Fullerton, CA; nine grandchildren, Shane Evans and wife, Lynne, Joshua Moore, Adam Moore and wife, Kayla, Cody Moore, Angela Vasquez and husband, Chris, Chad Evans and wife, Carrie, Lisa Thomsen and husband, Martin, Scott Livingston and wife, Lee, and Chad Livingston; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, & friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at the Marquette United Methodist Church in Marquette, KS with Rev. Tim Bever officiating. Military honors will be presented by members of VFW Post #2715 and American Legion Post #24, both of McPherson.
