Lorna Briggs

Lorna R. Briggs, 86, former Windom resident, died Tuesday, October 16, 2007, at Hospice House in Hutchinson. She was a homemaker and formerly worked as a secretary at the Pentagon in Washington, DC. She also worked as a secretary for the Great American Life Insurance Co. in Hutchinson.

She was born April 10, 1921, in Sedan, Kansas, the daughter of James Oliver and Elnora Grace (Smith) Brown.

On December 14, 1954, she married LeRoy A. Briggs at the Andover Lutheran Church near Windom. He preceded her in death on May 12, 2002.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 AM Monday, October 22, at Andover Lutheran Church, Windom. Burial will be in the Andover Cemetery. Visitation (with family present) will be from 1:00 to 4:00 PM Sunday at Stockham Family Funeral Home.

Survivors include: two daughters, Lora Beaver of Lyons, KS and Shirley Rayl of Hutchinson, KS; a brother, Alan Brown of McPherson; a sister, Marilyn Miller of Little River, KS; and seven grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Lila Joan; two brothers, Jerry and Dale Brown; and two sisters, Bonnie Berg and Rita Myers.
