Lois Kathleen "Kay" McDonald

Lois Kathleen “Kay” McDonald, 81, of McPherson and formerly of Fargo, North Dakota, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2015, at Riverview Estates in Marquette, KS. Kay worked for H&R Block and later her own business as a tax preparer after her daughters were grown.

Kay was born on January 10, 1934, in Adair, Oklahoma, the daughter of John and Lois (Helmuth) Carney. She graduated from McPherson High School in 1952.

On December 23, 1955, Kay married Clarence E. McDonald in Lyons, KS. They were married almost 60 years. He preceded her in death on June 18, 2015.

Kay and Clarence were members of Knollbrook Covenant Church (Fargo, ND) for almost 40 years. She also attended the First Christian Church, McPherson.

Survivors include: three daughters, Nancy McDonald (Kris Hughes) of Joshua Tree, CA, Sue McDonald (Dale Griffith) of Marquette, KS, and Judy Marty (Randy Hartog) of Fargo, ND; brother, Larry “Max” Carney (Shari) of Edmond, OK; three grandchildren, Aaron Marty (Sarah), Hope Marty, and Faith Marty; and two great-grandchildren, Calvin Marty and Keegan Marty.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence McDonald; daughter, Josephine McDonald; and brothers, Don, Dale, and John Carney.

The funeral service will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday, October 31, 2015, at Stockham Family Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Bever officiating. Burial will follow at McPherson Cemetery.
