Lois L. Alger Fry, 94, of McPherson, passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2011, at McPherson Hospital. She worked for Farmer's Alliance Insurance Company as an underwriter for 22 years, from 1959 to 1981.
Lois was born on July 6, 1917, in McPherson County, the daughter of Archibald and Hazel E. (Schriner) Durland. She graduated from Windom High School, Emporia State Teacher's College, and Brown Mackie Business College. She was united in marriage to Hensley D. Alger on February 6, 1937, in McPherson. He preceded her in death on May 24, 1958. On February 24, 1984, she married George Loy Fry at McPherson. He preceded her in death on January 5, 1988.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, McPherson.
Survivors include: son, Byron Alger and wife, Billie, of McPherson, KS; daughter, Myrna Cook and husband, Arthur, of Covington, OK; four grandchildren; Kimberly Smelser of Covington, OK, Sondra Easterly and husband, Eddie, of Covington, OK, Tamera Hankins and husband, Bobby, of Lahoma, OK, and Kandi LaMontagne and husband, Michael, of Erie, CO; 11 great-grandchildren; and eleven great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, and an infant sister.
The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, August 31, 2011, at Stockham Family Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Marion officiating. Burial will be in the Excelsior Cemetery.
