Linda Johnson

Linda K. Johnson, 61, of McPherson, passed away on Wednesday, June 9, 2010, at the McPherson Care Center. She was a bookkeeper for Morris & Son from 1974 to 1992. She had also worked at Tidy Laundry.

Linda was born on March 30, 1949, in McPherson, Kansas, the daughter of Virgil C. and Rozella (Becker) Chapman. She graduated from McPherson High School in 1967. On November 25, 1966, she was united in marriage to Charles W. Johnson at the First Baptist Church, McPherson.

She was a member of the New Gottland Covenant Church and former member of the First Baptist Church, McPherson.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at New Gottland Covenant Church with Rev. Richard Skar officiating. Burial will be in the New Gottland Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation is from 3:00 to 7:00 PM, Monday, at Stockham Family Funeral Home with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.

Survivors include: her husband, Charles of McPherson, KS; daughter, Lori Bontempi (Len) of Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey; mother, Rozella Chapman of McPherson, KS; brothers, Arthur Chapman and wife, Barbara, of McPherson, KS and Kenneth Chapman and wife, Robin, of Colorado Springs, CO; three grandchildren, Matthew, Dominic, and Julia Bontempi; and several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Virgil C. Chapman.
