LaVern A. “Vern” Huber, 70, passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2016, at his home in Galva. He was retired from Battenfeld-Cincinnati (formerly American Maplan) where he worked as a plasma machine operator.
He was born December 27, 1945 in Junction City, KS, the son of Jonah G. and Lucille A. (Kerbs) Huber. He moved to McPherson at a young age and attended the local schools. During the Vietnam War, Vern served in the U.S. Army.
On November 28, 1970, he married Marilyn Kay Lawrenz in McPherson.
Survivors include: his wife, Marilyn of the home; two sons, Jamie Huber (Rhonda) of Pratt, KS and Corey Huber (Jenny) of Lawrence, KS; a brother, Delmar Huber (Gladys) of McPherson; and four grandchildren, Paige, Hunter, Riley, and Gage Huber.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Dixie Anthem, and a brother, Dale Huber.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 AM, Friday, September 2, at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Karen Rice Ratzlaff officiating. Burial with military honors will be in McPherson Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday at Stockham Family Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
