Larry L. Premer, 73, of McPherson, passed away Friday, February 25, 2011, at Memorial Hospital in McPherson. He was a partner in L. L. & G. Incorporated, operating nineteen restaurants throughout the region. He also formerly owned and operated Larry’s TV in McPherson.
He was born May 13, 1937 in Binkelman, Nebraska, the son of Lester L. and Grace E. (Swanson) Premer. He was a graduate of Glasco High School in 1955 and Wichita Technical institute in 1956.
On December 18, 1960, he married Barbara J. James at Ensign, Kansas. The marriage was blessed with the birth of three children, Cliff, Chris, and Carolyn.
Larry was currently serving as Potentate of Isis Shrine Temple and was a member of McPherson Shrine Club, Scott County Shrine Club, Masonic Lodge #172, Kansas York Rite #48, Garfield Commandery #18 Knights Templar, First United Methodist Church and the International Society of Certified Electronics Technicians. He was also a former Scoutmaster of BSA Troop #133, McPherson, past President of the McPherson JayCees, and past President of the Kansas Electronics Association.
Survivors include: his wife, Barbara of the home; a son, Cliff Premer (Kay) of Goddard, KS; two daughters, Chris Chaney (Andrew) of Wichita, KS and Carolyn Janzen (Mike) of Wichita, KS; a brother, Gale Premer (Georgia) of Hutchinson; and seven grandchildren, Amanda, Byron, Caleb, Anastasia, Caden, Wyatt, and Levi. Larry was preceded in death by a brother, LeWayne Premer and a nephew, Ryan Premer.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 AM, Friday, March 4, 2011, at First United Methodist Church. Rev. Michael Marion and Rev. Jeff Gannon will officiate the service. Burial will be in McPherson Cemetery. After the committal service at McPherson Cemetery, friends are invited to join the family for a reception at McPherson Holiday Manor Hotel Convention Center. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday at First United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
Memorial donations will be used for Shriner’s Children’s Hospital patient travel expenses and can be made payable to Isis Shrine Temple or the McPherson Shrine Club in care of Stockham Family Funeral Home.
