Kenneth R. Walker, 91, of McPherson, passed away Saturday, October 22, 2011, at The Cedars in McPherson. He was a retired farmer and cattleman.
He was born on a farm near McPherson on June 3, 1920, the son of Henry A. and Mildred L. (Russell) Walker. He was a graduate of McPherson High School and attended McPherson College.
Mr. Walker was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps and served during World War II.
On September 23, 1946, he married Theresa Twila Schulz. She preceded him in death on November 4, 1953.
Kenneth was a member of the First Christian Church and American Legion Post #24. He had a Master Gardener certification and enjoyed growing Gladiolas and Asparagus.
Survivors include: a son, Dennis Walker and wife, Cheryn, of McPherson; two grandsons, Jasen Walker and wife, Jennifer, of Topeka, KS and Tyler Walker and wife, Tami, of McPherson; two great-grandsons, Kade and Kyle Walker; a sister, Carolyn Walker of McPherson; and several nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, an infant daughter, Sandra, two brothers, James and Winston, and two sisters, Eloise Thomas and Adelaide McBride.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, October 26, at the First Christian Church. Burial, with military honors, will be in McPherson Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 7:00 PM Tuesday at Stockham Family Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
